N°01The studio

A solo dev studio.

Halcytron is a one-person French software studio. Every app is designed, built, and cared for by a single developer, which keeps things simple, focused, and intentional, with no clutter and no noise.

The idea is simple: small, bright tools that get out of your way and bring a little light to your day. Lumen, a simple daily planner, is the first of them.

It's built by William Tong. You can see more of his work over on his portfolio.

The name

Halcytron comes from halcyon, a word for calm and peace, with a little tech in the tail. In Greek myth, Alcyone was turned into a kingfisher, and the gods stilled the winter seas for two weeks each year so she could nest safely on the water. Those calm stretches became known as the halcyon days, and the kingfisher has stood for tranquillity ever since.

That's where Halcytron gets both its name and its kingfisher. And there's a lemon hiding in there too: say it out loud, a‑le‑citron.
